Celebrating the first-ever Aotearoa Stone Skimming Championship at Lake Hawea Station
Set in a breathtaking private location known as The Hide, the day offered beautiful lake and alpine views, a friendly atmosphere, local food, and the chance to be part of a completely unique event. Hundreds turned out to watch and compete, making it a day to remember.
As presenting partner, NOVUS Glass was proud to help make this day, and the funds it raised for Melanoma New Zealand, possible.

What is the Aotearoa Stone Skimming Championship?
Inspired by the World Stone Skimming Championships in Scotland, competitors battled it out across the Open Men's and Open Women's categories - with champions Abbey McDonald and Jay Reeve now heading to Scotland to represent Aotearoa on the world stage.
Stone skimming has long been a favourite activity for communities around Aotearoa. Importantly, proceeds from the event support Melanoma New Zealand.
